7-1/2" Cheek SeriesThe 7-1/2" cheek style is the next line up in the tool box. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2" purchase with a 5" shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6" model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. The purchase/shank alignment ratio creates more pressure to all points of fcontact than the 6" cheek. When properly used and adjusted, it is still ocnsidered a mild cheek, but on with plety of leverage to control the horse at increased speeds.
7-1/2": Floating Spade BitOften seen as severe, the Floating Spade bit is fairly mild. Like the dogbone, the mouthpiece is broken in three places to contact different areas of the mouth. It wraps over the tongue with applied pressure. The top of the spade is rounded and smooth for soft realized pressure to the top of the mouth. It is a great bit to introduce a horse to palate pressure in the transition to ported bits. Pressure is also felt on the chin, bars, and corners of the mouth.
