A lot of reiner's prefer the performance skid boots in order to protect their horses hind ankles. Any horse - no matter what type of competition - that is required to use his/her rear and get down to stop or turn needs their back ankles protected. If you don't, your horse's back ankles will get raw and they will not want to use their hind end to stop or make turns. Think of it this way - if you allow your horse's ankles to become raw it is similar to you getting a rug burn. So, keep your athlete in their tip top shape for performing at their best and protect his/her rear ankles.
